Service 06
Heat & appliances
Large appliances and electric heat fail in predictable ways when they are hung on a circuit that was meant for lights.
We run the electrical side of air conditioning and heating equipment, electric heat, and the 240-volt circuits ranges and dryers require. The nameplate on the appliance decides the wire and the breaker. A nearby outlet that “looks close enough” usually is not.
If a new condenser, wall heater, or range is part of a renovation, this work lines up with the panel. When the service is already at its limit, the honest sequence is a service upgrade first, then the appliance circuit.
When to call
- A new range, dryer, or condenser has no circuit waiting for it
- Electric heat is being added to a room or addition
- An appliance cord is warm, or the breaker trips when it starts
- HVAC equipment is being replaced and the old whip or disconnect is tired
