FAQ
Questions clients ask before they hire an electrician.
Straight answers. If yours is not here, call (978) 799-6218 and ask it directly.
What should I do in an electrical emergency?
If there is fire, smoke, or someone is hurt, call 911 first. If it is safe to do so, turn the main breaker off, keep people away from the panel and any damaged wiring, and then call a licensed electrician. Do not keep resetting a breaker that trips immediately.
Can I do my own electrical work in Massachusetts?
Most electrical installations and alterations in Massachusetts have to be done by a licensed electrician, and many of them need a permit and inspection. DIY wiring can fail inspection, void a sale, and start a fire. Hire a licensed electrician for anything beyond a simple like-for-like device replacement you are sure is legal in your town.
How often should a home’s electrical system be looked at?
Have a licensed electrician inspect the system every 3 to 5 years, and sooner in an older house or if lights dim, breakers trip, outlets feel warm, or you smell overheating. An inspection before a renovation or a home sale is cheaper than discovering the problem after the walls are closed.
How much do electrical services cost?
The price depends on the work. A device replacement is not a service upgrade, and a service upgrade is not a whole-house rewire. DG Electrical does not publish package prices, because those numbers would be guesses. You get a written estimate after we know the job.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Dennis Garcia is a licensed and insured electrician. That is the baseline for panel work, rewiring, new circuits, and anything that has to pass inspection.
What areas do you serve?
Central Massachusetts and Greater Boston, including Worcester, Leominster, Fitchburg, Framingham, Concord, Marlborough, Shrewsbury, Southbridge, Millbury, and the other towns listed on the service areas page.
Do you work on older homes?
Yes. A large share of the work is older housing in Worcester County: fuse panels, crowded boxes, rewiring during renovations, and circuits that were extended one outlet at a time. We test what is there before adding to it.
How do I request an estimate?
Call (978) 799-6218 or email dgelectrician19@gmail.com with your town and what you need done. We follow up to set a time to look at the job and then give you a written estimate before work starts.
